U.S./China Environmental Education Exchange

Day 10: Washington D.C.

Day 10 D.C. Photos | Introduction to Exchange

The Chinese delagation arrived very late into the nation's capital, but it did not slow down the schedule. Senator Jay Rockefeller graciously donated two of his aides for a personal tour of the capitol. The tour included admission into the House and Senate chambers, both of which were in session.

After lunch at the "America" Restaurant in Union Station, the group headed to the Department of the Interior. Here they met with Ken Stansell, Assistant Director of International Affairs for the Department of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The next stop was to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They met with Dr. Jentai Yang, the China Affairs Officer, and Ginger Keho, the Director of Environmental Education.

Last, but most importantly, the group was honored by an invitation by the Chinese Ambassador to the United States. He graciously welcomed the group and talked about the importance of environmental education to the young people "who are the future of China." Each member of the group was given a book on fifty years of China.
