Day 11 D.C. Journal | Introduction to Exchange

The GLOBE Program is a environmental science and technology program in over 90 countries.

Michael Hales gives an overview of the GLOBE Program in China.

The teachers were particularly interested in how they can get involved in the program.

The group got a tour of the White House just a half a block down from GLOBE.

Lunch was at Mr. K's, arguably the best Chinese restaurant in D.C.

The afternoon started with a visit to the Thomas Jefferson School for Science and Technology.

This is a magnet school into which students must be accepted.

The group was allowed to sit in a couple of classes to observe the lessons.

Student project posters were on display around the school.

The guide was a student that speaks Chinese and could answer everyone's questions.

The group was very interested in all aspects of student life and school activities.

This student heads up a recycling program in the school.

The most popular item in the library was the jigsaw puzzle.

They have an excellent music program, and the choir practice was very high energy.

Behind the school is the greenhouse.

Dr. Judith Garcia was also our host for the Chapel Square Center. Here she poses with the group in the recording studio.

Chapel Square produces a large variety of printed educational materials in many different languages, including Chinese.

Ms. Li Li is the star of a pretend broadcast.

All books for the school district go through here.

Dinner on the water was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
