Welcome to Baird Middle School! |

The Chinese students already socialize with the other kids. |

In this warm climate, much of the school is outside. |

So much to say, and so little time! |

The day started with an introduction to the school in the library.
|

This student says that in Beijing, the schools are tall and large
buildings, which is quite different to Baird. |

The school superintendent welcomed the group. |

She was impressed by the students' English. |

The students were introduced to the Pledge of Allegience. |

Baird has a recycling program for household items and clothes. |

Teacher Ms. Li Li decided to join in this class! |

The first classroom stop was Tom Snyder's class. |

Mr. Snyder makes use of every inch of his classroom. This display
is on his ceiling. |

The students and visitors had the opportunity to ask each other questions. |

Mr. Snyder's classroom also has surfboards -- another contrast to
Beijing. |

Peng was not used to having desks in a group -- they are always in
rows in Beijing. |

This class was taking test, but they set out their China project to
show their guests. |
 |

Linda Boaen teaches 8th grade American history. |

The class learned how to say "hello" and count to "10"
in Chinese. |

Ms. Boaen's classroom is also very decorated with educational materials. |

Ms. Boaen's class is studying explorers. She believes in giving her
students a hands-on experience. |
 |
 |
 |

In the computer lab, students create interactive presentations and
quizes with HyperStudio. |

Produce grown by the students in the school gardens. |

These students were preparing the soil for a new crop. |
