Day 7: Intro to Camping 101 Journal

Day 7 Camping Photos | Introduction to Exchange

Camping out is about as popular in Beijing as it is in New York City -- not at all. This was a first-time experience for all the members of the Chinese group.

They were given a "luxury" 3-room tent, and putting it up was quite a lesson in cooperative learning.

After all the "homes" and beds were set up, the group participated in Mystery Dinner. Seven members of the group were given characters to play in a Western murder mystery. Wei, the interpreter, worked double-time translating each character's role. It was good English practice for the students as they read out their parts to the group.

The accompanying dinner was also an experience. It was true Western BBQ with steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, and chili.

The evening closed out sitting around the campfire sharing stories of their trip.
