Day : 8 Photos: Yosemite Journal

Day 8 Yosemite Journal | Introduction to Exchange

First stop of the day was the Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoia trees.

The seed cones only open during a forest fire. This tree was burned.

The "bachelor and the three graces" is one larger tree with three smaller trees next to it.

Standing in front of the Grizzly Giant. This tree has a limb that is six feet in diameter.

This tree is 2000 years old, and it is not nearly as big as the other trees in the Mariposa Grove.

Posing in front of half dome on a beautiful day.

Half of the group went down the Four Mile Trail.

It is a beautiful and enjoyable hike.

This is a reproduction of an Awahnee village. The people of the village lived on Black Oak acorns. There were teepee-like huts, a sweat lodge, and a religious hut.

Happy birthday, Wei!!
