GEA - China

U.S./China Environmental Education Exchange (September, 2000)

Participant Feedback

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitably that we received from [GEA-China] when we visited USA on September 12-25, 2000, on behalf all members of the Chinese group. This trip will be for all to remember for a lifetime.

"We are in the midst of many new beginnings in the relationship between the United States and China. Exchanges like that of the GEA-China broaden awareness of the need for environmental stewardship and foster greater understanding of environmental concerns which transcend national boundaries" Vice Present Al Gore addressed above comments on his letter to the GEA-China. We hope that we are reaching the goal in the first GEA-China hosting U.S./China Environmental Education Exchange.

We look froward to further cooperation between the people of the United States and China in the environmental education and share our common future. Thank you very much again and look forward to meeting you in China.

Sincerely yours,

Chen Kun
Under Secretary General
Chinese Society for Sustainable Development

It was a great pleasure to meet you and your team (GEA - China) last week in USEPA. There are great challenges and opportunities in the future for the US and China to work together for the protection of the global environment and I look forward to that challenge and our future cooperation.

United Airlines is proud to have joined our Chinese and American friends in sponsoring the activities of GEA-China as it seeks to educate the youth of China on the need for environmental activity which provides sustainable development both now and in the future.

It was certainly my pleasure to have welcomed the entire GEA-China group in San Francisco both as a proud partner and a concerned parent of two young boys for whom I would like to see a better world than the one I have inherited. My only regret was that I was not able to join the group for more of your exciting and educational itinerary.

I look forward to hearing more about your trip and hope to see you again soon.

Respectfully,

It was a great pleasure to have your group to visit the EPA office. With your assistance, I am sure the visiting students and teachers must have a good experience about the US and pleasant trip in the States. Your effort in helping China to promote environmental awareness is highly valued. Please do not hesitate to contact us again in the future for a similar occasion.

Sincerely,

Jentai Yang
