U.S./China Environmental Education Exchange (September, 2000)
June 5, 2000 Global Environmental Alliance
- China To the board and staff of Global Environmental Alliance - China: I was pleased to hear of the environmental education initiatives that have been undertaken by the Global Environmental Alliance in China (GEAC), involving China's Ministry of Science and Technology and Global Communications for Conservation, a non-government organization here in the United States. GEAC has advanced environmental education curricula in China and will select five students from among the winners of an environmental awareness contest for an exchange trip to the United States this fall. My congratulations to those selected. We are in the midst of many new beginnings in the relationship between the United States and China. Exchanges like that of the GEAC broaden awareness of the need for environmental stewardship and foster greater understanding of environmental concerns which transcend national boundaries.
