On behalf of India Project for Animals and Nature (IPAN) and the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), we’d like to thank the thousands of people who have responded to our appeals and deluged the Indian authorities with what has become a worldwide appeal to “Save Loki”. We appreciate the efforts of several individuals and organizations to raise funds for our Loki campaign. IPAN has set up a “Save Loki Fund” which will help defray necessary travel expenses and will provide the financial resources to construct a large enclosure, and if necessary, to even purchase the elephant and care for him for the rest of his life. More importantly, it will allow us and our partner organizations to continue in-depth investigations into the plight of captive elephants and help make the future of India’s largest wild elephant population in the Nilgiris, South India, more secure.
